Stepping into Wilderness: Sacred Practices of Prayer
Lent 2024
Last year, in our season of Lent, we engaged with the practice of the Prayer of Examen. In this new season, we will be returning to prayer once again, this time centering ourselves in the stories of our community and the meaningful practices of prayer that they hold. This season is framed by two stories of wandering. First, led by the Spirit, Jesus entered the Wilderness and engaged in the sacred practice of moving closer to God. And at the end of his life, Jesus prayed in a Garden to a God that was big enough to hold his fear and uncertainty and humanity. Led by that same Spirit into curious wandering, we will look closer, more deeply, at the spiritual practices that draw us closer to God, that help us expand our images of God, and allow us to wander closer to a God that is bigger, that can hold all of who we are and all of who our neighbors are.
