Leadership

At Storyline, we are not centralized around a hierarchy or single figurehead. We believe there is power in the rich collective narrative and diverse voices around us, and we seek to constantly release those voices in the way we lead and operate.   This is reflected in our leadership teams which are highly collaborative, strengths-based, and live out our value to fight for relationships.
At Storyline, we believe in shared leadership!

Lead Pastor/Organizer

Marketing & Storytelling Manager

Anna Hoesly, MFT

Picture
Anna lives in Oak Grove with her husband and two kiddos, in a house filled with  giant dry erase boards, ever-evolving art projects, a sweet cacophony of love joy and meltdowns, a revolving door of neighbors and wandering friends, stacks of half-read books and unwashed dishes, and SO MUCH slime. Anna's background is in  Marriage and Family Therapy + some seminary, and  she is a certified mediator  for families and non-profits. She gets all lit up by systemic thinking and big-picture movement-making... While  living and breathing the daily life's work of humanizing, connecting, and restoring our relationships and souls. She thrives on seeing people reconnect to their own neighborhoods and get captivated by the pursuit of justice and goodness in their own community.

Sacred Organizer

Dez Valdez

Picture
Dez was born & raised in the Pacific Northwest and currently lives in inner SE Portland with their dog Lyric and their cat Summers (named after Buffy Summers, of course). They have worked with youth in Clackamas County since 2018 and are excited to be part of the Storyline team as a youth-oriented organizer. Dez can often be found listening to history podcasts, writing, or geeking out about TV. They also love exploring the ways art intersects with justice movements past and present.

Besides working at Storyline, Dez is a candidate for ordination in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and in their final year of seminary.

Stori McMullen

Picture
Though originally from Texas, Stori now lives in the beautiful PNW. She is passionate about connecting with people through stories and storytelling, through myth and movies, through books and history, in a way that helps them connect with and make sense of their own experiences, truths, and emotions.  When she's not writing, reading, or watching T.V., she likes to do puzzles and hang out with her cats.

Her role is to connect people with the heart and mission of Storyline through social media, creative storytelling, and communication (also, funny GIFs).

Paul Potter, MSW and Nancy Potter

Paul and Nancy love living every day to the fullest- which includes reveling in time with their granddaughters, being active in their community, hosting parties, traveling, golf and walking, puzzling, and genuinely enjoying each other's company. Paul loves losing to Nancy at card games, for example, and they love waking up bright and early to a coffee date each morning.

Paul has over 30 years’ experience in addictions counseling, training, administration and organizational development work. He loves to focus on the richness in each of our life stories and the power of sharing them.

Nancy has a BS in organizational communication and worked for 25 years in Fortune 500 companies as project manager, payroll, human resources, and business analysis. She brings a keen sense of detail and organization to all our endeavors. Nancy is called to focus on social justice issues and does that with love and compassion for others.
