Naming Our Stars: an orientation toward liberation
Epiphany 2024
In the season of Epiphany, like the traveling magi who followed the path of the stars to the baby Jesus, we are orienting ourselves toward the guiding light of our own stars. So often, we want a map because we are eager to hurry through. But what if, instead, we turned our bodies toward the stars – they shine a light on the path you are on, orienting you in the darkness rather than eliminating it. Stars work side-by-side with darkness in your journey of becoming, as we move closer to God and to each other, even if no two journeys look exactly the same or have the same destination.
In this season, we will be naming some of our guiding stars as a community, the truths we affirm about the nature of God that serve to guide us as we interact with Scripture, ourselves, and our neighbors. And we will be inviting you to name yours
