Spiritual Accents:
What is yours, what is your neighbors, and what do they make together?
In the Christian tradition, the day of Pentecost is traditionally recognized as the birth of the church. The story we retell on that day provides us with a moment of looking at a community finding greater unity together than they thought possible. Gustavo Gutierrez describes this moment as embodying the idea that “There is no theology that does not have its own accent in speaking about God.”
In this new season, we are going to be naming what our spiritual accents are: what we bring to our community with our unique accents, how we tangle effectively in determining our unique accents, and what does it mean for us, with all of the beautiful accents that make us who we are, to collectively get off of our path as a community.
