Our Financial Values and Practices
Below are some of our core values and practices that drive how we invest and steward our resources.
We invest in people rather than things.
We operate at a very low overhead quite intentionally. Rather than funding a building plan, we invest in our community by gathering in community spaces, and investing in the humans at the heart of them. We value smart partnerships.
We deeply value the people doing good work around us and optimize our time, relational, and financial capacity by integrating and partnering well with our community rather than reinventing our own isolated paths. This means we any amount you give is multiplied as we work hard to raise giving and grant resources from organizational partners who are invested in the work we are doing in the community. Our giving directly impacts our community.
Our leadership is composed of pastor-leader-organizers who are called not just to the community of faith, but to our neighborhood. Half of our staff time is spent by using our hands and feet to work in our neighborhood and draw others into that work. |
Our finances are transparent to our members, donors, and the public. We make our budget available to all donors + welcome questions at any time. We prepare monthly reports that are reconciled with our bank account and reviewed for unusual deviations by our board, and we have gone above and beyond legal requirements to make our finances available to the public. Your donations are confidential and tax deductible.
Only our record-keepers (board treasurer and secretary) have authorization to view giving amounts so that your giving remains confidential. Read more here for details about tax-deductible receipts and year-end statements. We maintain a diligent system of checks + balances and dependable record-keeping. In each facet of our financial record-keeping we have well-documented and executed procedures with layers of checks and balances always involving a second, and often third set of eyes. This includes contributions, checks to payees, and expense reimbursement. We also diligently back all records up so that our documentation is fail-safe. Read here for details.
